  • What is the mission of the Annandale Ambassador Program?
The mission of the Annandale Ambassador Program is to develop, mentor and support positive role models who will promote the community of Annandale with pride.
  • What is the time commitment I can expect as a candidate?
Below is a tentative schedule of events you are expected to participate in throughout the candidate program. On average, you can anticipate one scheduled event per week from the middle of May to the beginning of July.
  • When do I need to officially commit to participating in the candidate program?
The deadline for committing to participate as a candidate is Saturday, March 1st. You will need to sign and return your candidate contract prior to or at the Parent/Candidate Meeting on Sunday, March 16th.
  • How do I secure a candidate sponsor?
We encourage each candidate to secure their own sponsor by reaching out to businesses within the community that you may have a connection with. This could be family friends who own a local business, your place of employment, or somewhere you’ve volunteered in the past. Please keep in mind that your sponsor must be a member of the Annandale Chamber of Commerce. If you need assistance in finding an appropriate sponsor, the Ambassador Committee is always here to help! Once you have identified a sponsor, please provide their contact information (name, business, phone number and email address) to Bri Sagehorn to complete the sponsorship process. The deadline for securing a sponsor is Sunday, March 16th.
  • What will my sponsor be responsible for during my candidacy?
Your sponsor is required to pay a one-time sponsorship fee of $300. This helps cover the costs associated with your program participation. Additionally, your sponsor may be invited to volunteer at and/or attend various program events throughout your candidacy and must provide a driver and convertible for you to ride in during the 4th of July parade.
  • Am I required to supply my own outfits and formal dresses for the candidate events?
Candidates will be provided with a t-shirt that can be worn to many of the non-formal events. The only events that require a formal dress are the 4th of July Gala, the 4th of July Parade, and Coronation. You are welcome to wear the same formal dress for all three events or choose a different dress for each event. Many candidates utilize past prom dresses or borrow from friends/family. You will also need a business formal outfit for Judging Day. If you don’t have access to a particular outfit required for an event, the Ambassador Committee is more than happy to help you find something suitable!
  • What are the expectations and time commitment if I am selected as an Annandale Ambassador?
As an Annandale Ambassador, you are expected to positively represent the city of Annandale throughout your year of reign at various community and neighboring community events. Time commitment varies throughout the year and tends to peak during the summer and spring at an average of 1-2 events per week. The fall and winter schedule typically averages 1-2 events per month. At the end of your year, you will be awarded a scholarship for your efforts and time spent as an Ambassador. A wardrobe will be provided to you by the Annandale Ambassador Committee to ensure you have appropriate wear for the events you are expected to attend.
  • What if I want to participate in the candidate program but don't want the commitment of being an Ambassador?
Whether or not you want to be selected as an Annandale Ambassador, the candidate program has so much to offer in terms of personal development, leadership experience, and community involvement. You always have the option of participating in the candidate program and letting the judges know you are not interested in being selected as an Ambassador.
